How to join a
Canadian university?
There is no single test to be accepted into a
university in Canada. Each institution sets its own admission standards or
regulations. In addition, they take into account the qualifications and
conditions of each request individually.
Each university determines, in its own guidelines,
the equivalence grant academic degrees that bring foreign students.The Canadian Information Centre for International
Credentials (CICIC for short) can provide more information about determining
these equivalences.
Recommendations to enter a Canadian university
• Consult the directory of universities and
carefully identify the institutions and study programs that meet the objectives
of the student. Geographical preferences must be considered, costs of tuition
and characteristics of each university (size, location, facilities for
foreigners). Should consider more than one program or institution, if admission
is difficult in the first choice.
• Assess the eligibility of the applicant. Each
applicant must individually assess their chances of admission to the
requirements of the institution of their choice. Generally, good academic
performance in high pre-university education and is a favorable factor. Some
universities require this candidate reasoning test called the Scholastic
Assessment Test, SAT.
• To write a good cover letter explanatory
memorandum and have good academic references certainly help the success of the
admission. For details on the application, should visit the official website of
each institution. Most have admission services online.
• Check the language requirements. International
students in Canada must demonstrate language proficiency in English or French.
the presentation of evidence of language proficiency such as IELTS, TOEFL, the
CAEL or TEFaQ required.
• Start preparations well in advance, at least
eight months before the start of the curriculum. Although the deadlines for
admission can vary considerably from one university to the other, generally,
the Canadian academic year begins in September. Some programs start in January

in detail on the websites of each of the universities.
• Have a day academic and personal documents necessary
for study abroad.
